CRANE OPERATION

This crane is solely for the use of EDYC members who wish to raise or lower the mast on their yacht.

There is a maximum safe working load of 200Kgs and this must not be exceeded under any circumstances.

To drop your mast

The green strop should be placed around the mast and inner stays and below the spreaders. Boats with double spreaders are advised to use the top set if possible.

Lifting is aided by a simple 6:1 pulley arrangement and many yachts will be able to achieve the lift manually. Any user in doubt of their ability to safely lift their mast manually should feed the hoist rope through a genoa car and onto their primary winch.

To raise the mast

This can be done by reversing the process but users are advised to put a recovery line onto the strop in order to pull it down after the lift has been achieved.

Defect of maintenance problem

Any defect or maintenance problem with the crane should be reported to a member of EDYC executive ASAP.
