START winch by turning key clockwise.
STOP winch by pulling stop handle and then turning key anticlockwise.
CONTROL cable using the PAY-IN/PAY-OUT lever. It is vitally important to use this lever with care and control. Letting go suddenly during use will cause the winch to stop abruptly and could cause an unplanned 'lifeboat' style launch! New users should experiment with 'feathering' the lever to obtain maximum control.
REVS should be kept at the minimum setting during the launch or retrieval of your boat to facilitate appropriate speed control. Increased revs can be used to recover empty trailers at users discretion.
Users should provide their own chain/shackle/rope to attach the eye of the cable to their trailer.
Drive can be disengaged to facilitate quick release of cable - this should only be attempted with the engine turned OFF: - Insert socket handle on the drum axle (far side of winch drum) and turn clockwise to fully disengage drive mechanism. The same handle should then be located onto the manual brake mechanism - near side of drum, low down - and appropriate braking used to control the speed at which cable is removed. This will avoid snarl-ups which may occur if the drum is allowed to rotate too quickly! Please re-engage drive when finished.
Please ensure that there is adequate DIESEL in tank before beginning operation.
Report any breakages or maintenance concerns to a member of Executive ASAP.
The winch installment is designed solely for the purpose of launching and retrieving EDYC member's boats and should not be used for any other purpose.
Users should note that if they choose to use the winch then they do so entirely at their own risk.
