EDYC success in the Wayfarer Inland Championships
hosted by the Cullaun Sailing club.
Congratulations to all who took part and survived the weekend racing at Cullaun. What a great weekend. Special congratulations to
Trevor and his able crew Simon for a terrific performance to finish first overall. Also well done to Gordon and Robin in Hart-beat who
gave Trevor a hard time and pushed him all the way, finishing first in the final race on day 2 and would likely have won the penultimate
race but for an equipment failure. Very well done to both Busy Bee (Gordon and Finlay) and Euphorbia (Paul and Joy) who sailed very
well to give the Hartleys stiff competition. |

| Aids to Navigation. Members should report any failures to the new Aids to Navigation in Strangford Lough to the Estates Management Department in Down District Council (028 4461 0868 or to: estates.management@downdc.gov.uk). There is obviously a warranty period from the supplier, so important to pick up any failures if they do occur. | 04/05/2011. | ||

Details can be found on Notices to Mariners OnLine. These new aids to navigation were installed in March 2011, making a huge improvement to safety on the Lough. | 28/04/2011. | ||
| Fisheries Exclusion zones have been established in Strangford Lough. The associated sea beds are now non-disturbance zones. The prohibition does not affect surface traffic. However, we have been asked to avoid deploying anchors on, or otherwise disturbing, the specified seabed as much as possible. | 15/04/2011. | ||
| New Members. Membership of the club is currently open, and we welcome applications from prospective new members with an interest in boating on Strangford Lough. | New power sockets. (revised wording) The winch house sockets have been removed and new ones installed in the first boat house (close to the hose and convenient for power-washing). Additional sockets have also been installed adjacent to the water taps on either side of the yard. Members should note that there is a touch sensitive switch located above the sockets in the first boat-house. This is a timer switch and it activates all of the external power-points on site, allowing a maximum of two hours use - after which it is necessary to re-arm the touch switch. Electricity is provided free of charge to all members. |
