| Commodore's Message | As I sit down to pen this brief "Spring Message" my flight to Glasgow has just been cancelled and Day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival has been abandoned, both due to winds gusting up to 90 miles per hour. Gaelforce is at the top of the slip, antifouled and ready to launch for the Early Series in two weeks. |
| House news | The duty rotas are critical to the ability of the club to carry on chosen activities. OODs are needed to manage the races, boat drivers are needed to ferry and look after on the water safety. Those members whose names appear on the Members House Rota are needed to help and serve refreshments in the Clubhouse. Failure to turn up for your duty means someone will have to fill in for you and if no one can, this will result in disappointment for everyone. |
| Training | Training will continue to be a main focus for the club during 2008 and has already got off to a great start.
We have held an RYA II Power Boat course which has increased the numbers of members trained to carry out club rescue duties. Additionally, a race practice day was held to allow potential rescue rib drivers to improve their skills. Watch out for further courses.

| Sailing news |
The Darragh which was not entirely reliable during last season has now
been replaced by a Chevy workboat, which is of similar size and recently
fitted with a replacement engine. It would be very useful for those of you who are listed for taxi duty to familiarise yourselves fully with the Chevy in advance of your duty. Please talk to the Sailing Captain if you have any problems. |
| Site news | The main areas that have been focused on for the incoming season are resurfacing
EDYC site and upgrading of Slipway.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind all members this is your club and that ALL buildings, services and equipment should be treated with respect (our maintenance costs are climbing rapidly), therefore if something is broken or requires attention DO NOT leave for the next user to report the fault. |
